God has provided a way.

In Acts 16:16-34, we have the account of Paul and Silas being bound in a Philippian jail for preaching the Gospel of Christ.  They sang hymns and prayed at midnight and God sent an earthquake that freed them from jail.  The jailor was going to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped, but Paul assured him they were all there.  He realized that Paul and Silas had something in their life that he needed and asked them, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

This is a question that many have pondered and many have ignored, but it is the most important question one can ask.  We cannot save ourselves and all of our attempts at such end in futility.  The good news is that God has provided a Way of salvation through the sacrifice of His Son.  Christ gave His life freely that we might have life (John 3:16).  He did what we could not do.  Although He has provided salvation for us, we do not automatically get it.  We must act upon this wonderful gift to make it ours.
